801 Philmont Memories
written by Brett Bybee

As we each look back,
Two weeks here with a pack,
Starlit nights atop peakless, yet towering mesas,
On Baldy, the relentless wind against our faces,
Blooming flowers, even single blades of grass,
Captured our attention as the trailside we did pass;
Traipsing up hillsides where no other foot had tread,
Sunrises with every tinge of orange and pink and red;
Swaying of giant high trees wherever they did stand,
Gently moving side to side with the wind's caressing hand,
Rainbows painted skies with more elegance than ever could a painter with his brush,
We carefully walked through meadows to preserve their carpet so lively, green and lush;
And we--we opened a quiet, majestic corridor here so heavenly serene,
That all who hereto tread might catch a glimpse of some of what we've seen.

Along our trek, we spent a night of introspection each alone atop Midnight Mesa, where among other things we were asked to think of as many things as we could that we wanted to accomplish throughout our lives. At that time, I only came up with 31 flavors, but of course, since then, the list has changed and grown longer. The original list of 31 follows below.
